Abby Lipschutz, Psy.D.
Executive Director
Dr. Lipschutz, founder and Executive Director of Shoreline Psychological, is a licensed clinical psychologist, and has been in the practice of working with families since 1996. Dr. Lipschutz believes that working with individuals across the lifespan is essential to the well-being of an entire family. Her work spans the modalities of individual, family, couples, and group therapy, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Lipschutz is skilled in treating a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, social and academic difficulties, interpersonal problems and family-related stress. She specializes in parenting support as well as concerns specific to young women, using evidence-based modalities. Dr. Lipschutz completed a doctorate in psychology at Wright State University. She has been specifically trained in the therapeutic work with children and adolescents, and couples, as well as in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dr. Lipschutz holds an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. She helped develop the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and served as the program’s Consultation Team Leader and Supervisor. Dr. Lipschutz also has served the community on the Board of Directors at the Women and Family Life Center in Guilford, CT, where she helped develop and run the GirlsCoach GirlsRun program, a unique leadership and peer mentoring program. She lives in Madison with her two children and two (almost therapy) dogs.
